March 18 with Mark Klett
Northlight Gallery and the ASU School of Art will honor Regents Professor Mark Klett for 40 years of service to the university with an exhibition. Klett began his time at Arizona State University in 1982 when he joined the staff as a master printer for the Visual Arts Research Institute. Ten years later he joined the faculty where he has continued mentoring students and teaching photography. Klett’s creative practice which includes investigations into the Western landscape, issues of place, culture and time has drawn hundreds of students to pursue their undergraduate and graduate degrees at ASU.

Northlight Gallery honors Klett with a group exhibition of over 50 ASU alumni who Klett mentored during their BFA and MFA degree programs. The work in the exhibition varies widely and explores representation, perceptions of the human experience and theoretical concerns of photographic art practice and includes landscape photographs made in the southwest, portraiture, abstract and interpretive photographs as well as historical process, drawing and sculpture.
